Annapurna Sunrise View Trek Best Season and Difficulty

We recommend performing the Annapurna Sunrise View Trek during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September - November) seasons. The skies are at their clearest during this time, the temperature is moderate and the Annapurna weather is generally stable. This leads to the best possible experience. In terms of difficulty, the trails to Poon Hill are easy to trek on and well-equipped with good facilities and lodges. Anybody with at least minimal fitness levels can perform this trek, including families with children. No prior trekking experience is required.

Best season for the Annapurna sunrise view trek

Spring season

The spring season, which spans the months of March, April, and May, is the second-best time of the year for an excursion to the Annapurna Sunrise View trek after fall. In particular, the month of April offers the best trekking conditions because the snow begins to melt and the sky is typically bright, providing magnificent views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.

The trails become even more picturesque when the woodlands blossom and look gorgeous with vivid flowers of all colours. Additionally, after winter has passed, average temperatures start to rise as well, softening the climate. Another important reason that makes this season ideal for the trek is the low amount of precipitation and pleasant Annapurna Base Camp weather.

Summer season

In this part of Nepal, summer is also the rainy season, so rain should be expected frequently. Rainfall causes the ground to become muddy and slippery, making it difficult for hikers to complete their tasks. The normal daytime temperature during the summer can often range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius, so this Annapurna Base Camp season offers some relief from exceptionally low temperatures.

Even while it does get cold at night, one may expect a manageable level of cold with the correct clothing. Another benefit is that you get to see the area at its most vibrant when you take this excursion in the summer.

Autumn season

The best time of year to organize a trek to Annapurna Sunrise View Trek is thought to be the autumn, particularly the month of October. This time of year is ideal for trekkers in terms of both scenery and weather. The region's fall season begins shortly after the start of September and typically lasts through the end of November.

You may anticipate clear skies throughout this time of year, which will allow you to take in unimpeded views of the notable Himalayan mountain peaks as well as excellent dawn and sunset vistas. After the extended period of rain has passed, the greenery appears new and enhances the aesthetic attractiveness of the surroundings. Although the start of autumn is not very cold in terms of temperatures, the fall season starts to cool off in November.

Winter season

This Annapurna Base Camp season brings with itself a new charm in the form of blankets of snow draping all the forests and valleys, which is certainly a sight to behold. The chilly temperatures during the season, though, are a challenge for trekkers, as the night temperature in the higher reaches of the trail drops down to as low as -20 degrees Celsius.

However, if you are mentally and physically fit to indulge in this trek despite all the challenges and have experience with winter Himalayan treks, the adventure may surprise you with the undiluted beauty and stunning landscapes you get to witness here.

Essential Information

Permit required for the Annapurna Sunrise View trek

Like the Annapurna base camp trek, you also need a permit for the Annapurna Sunrise View trek. You need two permits for the Annapurna sunrise view trek one Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) and Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP).

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

The largest project undertaken by NTNC was the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), which was started in 1986. Additionally, it is Nepal's first conservation area and biggest protected area. Over 100,000 people from various linguistic and cultural groups live there, spread out over a region of 7,629 square kilometres. ACAP is home to 1,226 kinds of flowering plants, 105 animal species, 518 bird species, 40 reptile species, and 23 amphibian species. It is also rich in biodiversity.

The Annapurna region is distinctive in the world due to a number of factors. The 3-mile long and 1.5 miles-wide Kali Gandaki Gorge, which contains fossils from the Tethys Sea that date back 60 million years, is the deepest river gorge in the world. In Ghorepani, one of the largest rhododendron forests in the world is found. The highest-altitude freshwater lake in the world is Tilicho Lake, which is situated in Manang, to the north of the Annapurna mountain.

The natural and cultural attributes of ACA have made it the most well-liked trekking location in the nation, drawing the bulk of trekkers nationwide. Over time, the local economy's tourism industry has become one of the most significant industries. To accommodate the thousands of trekkers, pilgrims, and workers who serve them, there are more than 1,000 lodges, teashops, and hundreds of other ancillary services.

Through an integrated, community-based conservation and development approach, the multifaceted issues of ACA have been addressed. This experimental model has been at the forefront of promoting the concept of "Conservation Area" through a "Integrated Conservation and Development Programme" approach in the nation and abroad. In 1986, the Ghandruk Village Development Committee (VDC) conducted the first trial run of ACAP as a pilot program. ACAP's program encompassed the entire area once it was declared a "Conservation Area" in the Gazette in 1992.

The ACA is also the first protected area to permit locals to live within its borders, own private property, and keep their customary rights and access to natural resources. The Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) has been split into seven unit conservation offices in order to manage it more efficiently: Jomsom, Manang, and Lo-Manthang in the trans-Himalayan region, and Bhujung, Sikles, Ghandruk, and Lwang on the Annapurna range's southern slope. It has been more than 30 years since NTNC's mission to advance the preservation and prosperity of the Annapurna region, its resources, and its people were fulfilled through ACAP. The major objective of the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit is to help the National Trust for Natural Conservation accomplish its objective by achieving a sustained balance between nature conservation and socioeconomic improvement in the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA).
